Rural Racquets started with two things: a love of padel and pickleball, and a love of the countryside they’ve grown up around. Formerly The Padel Barn, the business was founded by Chris Gibbon, a farmer who saw how naturally these sports translated into rural settings, and how much the surrounding communities would get out of them.
What began as a single site has grown into two: a working farm location near Sedgefield in County Durham, and a venue at Leeming Bar in North Yorkshire. Both offer indoor courts, free parking, and coaching recommendations for players of any level.
Alongside the venues, we’ve opened the business up to other landowners, farmers and commercial site owners through our franchise model, supporting diversification with hands-on guidance from people who understand both farming and the game.
A small team with a straightforward aim: get more people playing, in places that feel good to play in.
